Older Mind Matters

February update 25/2/2010

February has been busy month despite the wintry weather. I'll mention a few highlights.

The report on the interface survey looking at learning disabilities and old age psychiatry has been sent to the Royal College of Psychiatrists but needs to go to various committees.

I've been to meet with users and carers at several cafés and groups to get their views about skills needed in the health and social care workforce working with families who have a family member living with a dementia. This gave me the chance to meet and talk to a lot of really interesting people (and to get lost in rural Staffordshire on a dark cold night despuite my trusty satnav).

I'm just starting two carer training courses at Approach.

Next month I'm planning to go to the Faculty of Old Age Psychiatry residential conference in Leeds where we are presenting two posters and one of my university colleagues is doing a talk on some of our work at the Centre for Ageing and Mental Health.

And I'm hoping the website will go live shortly ......
